I'm not an actual newbie, but I can't find anything saying whether this is possible or not, and i haven't played in months, but...

I recall being able to, for a time, create more than one person on my account. Is this no longer possible, or is there something I have to do to unlock the ability to do it?

 You can create a total of four characters on a single account. You don't have to do anything to unlock this ability. Creating multiple accounts, though, is not allowed. 

I thought as much...Now i need to figure out why it's not letting me.

Okay, as a continuation of the issue, whenever i click on the "Create Character" button, it goes to the loading screen once, than shows back up at the character selection screen, and the button never works again. My guess is that something's buggy, unless I am doing something wrong. Any tips would help, but I don't expect much.

 Yeah. Other people have been having issues creating new characters too. So, you're not alone.

I know this was from last week, so hopefully you've found your answer, but if you haven't, I was having the same problem (repeating, even), but was able to fix the problem by deleting my EE cache folder and letting it re-download.  I seem to have the same problem anytime I delete a character, but this does seem to fix it long enough for you to make a character.

My documents -> Sparkplay Media -> Sparkplayer (Beta) -> Cache -> Static.beta.eartheternal.com (erase everything IN THIS last folder, but leave the folder itself)

When you next log in you'll have to do some downloading.  It's quick for me, but I suppose it depends on your connection speed.
