Install error.

Tried installing the game but when something pops up about DirectX wanting permissions and access I get this error message below. I can't run the game at all probably because of this so if anyone can help me out it'd be awesome. I use Vista Home Premium 64-bit.

In the thread linked in my signature...you'll find a graphics section, with links to Direct X. These links will update you. This way when you try to run the game again, it'll go past the dxwebupdate.

Now, keep in mind though, others using 64-bit windows either vista or 7 have reported having hiccups playing as well. All we ask is report them in the forum, along with the error please, so that The Creation Crew can get them addressed and put out there with the next update.

Ahh yeah, I did take a brief look at the forum post but it was so long and confusing at first glance but thanks for pointing out where to look. Think the reason why I was getting the error message is because I was attempting to download the DirectX for x32 bit or something, since I needed the x64 bit DirectX it wasn't working and giving me the error.

Thanks for the help! Can't wait to give the game a try I'll be sure to report any errors that come my way.

Well I seem to be getting the same error for every DirectX download I try, I really have no idea what to do. Looked around on the internet and they seem to be saying that a "Bad Image" error means a currupt file.. which certianly doesn't sound good. I really don't know how to solve this problem so if you can shine any light on the whole matter I'd really appreciate it.

Right, so after looking into it all and trying different things I've realised that I have DirectX 11 which is the most up to date version. Might explain why it was giving me errors but still doesn't really explain why I can't play the game.

Loaded up the game just now and it says "This application has failed to start because d3dx9_39.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."

Sorry for bothering you so much just trying to make some sense on why I can't play the game xD

On the microsoft site...get the dx11 sdk..or dx9 sdk..that wil have the misisng file in it.  The redistributables don't include it, and only update it IF you HAVE it already. It's not a file used by all game makers and DX is not really needed for windows to do it's job.

Right I've went through the game install on my x32 bit Vista desktop computer. And guess what. It worked absolutely perfectly, no problems with DirectX at all. So it's obvious now, the game just doesn't run on x64 bit Vista. So anyone who has x64 bit Vista I wouldn't be holding out much hope for the game to work for you, for the moment anyway.

Just to let you know Basselope as well, you should really tell peepz straight up that x64 bit Vista will not work for this game or bring this to their attention. After all the searching about I had to do to try and figure out the solution to this error it seems that the DirectX part of the game install just doesn't work for these users. Maybe it's not the game it's self but the actual DirectX install, since even when I was downloading the .exe file for it directly from the Microsoft website I was still getting the same error.

So I think it is the DirectX install that just isn't compatiable or to date with the x64 bit Vista yet. Bad on Microsofts part but maybe it's something that will work when they bring out an install that works for x64 bit or something. This is my theory anyway but then I'm not a full on computer whiz, but the fact it works perfectly for x32 bit Vista really says a lot to me.

Actually, this tidbit has been floating around the tech section threads for a little while now. But I have not added it to my thread as an absolute becuase it's more of a 50/50 thing at the moment. Some 64-bit users have gotten it to work, and just as many have not. Problem is, there are not that many 64-bit users out there to show for it. Most everyone one is on a 32bit version of the Windows OS. I know it's not something easily searched for, so I do apologize in the regards. But I was rather hoping it would work for you on 64-bit.
