bolas, flails, and caltrops

A number of weapon and thrown item ideas. Bolas could be used to bind enemies (simular to Root). Caltrops could be used to prevent enemies from following you or as a trap to damage tham as they pass. And flails because I like flails.

Interesting ideas! I think it would add an extra element of creativity to the game, for sure.

He didn't make those names up; those are real tools. Bolas are just two balls connected by a couple yards of line, so they wrap around what you throw them at (I think the name is Spanish). And a caltrop is basically a metal spike you throw on the ground so it wounds any foot that steps on it. They were used against cavalry in medieval times.

I could see those two items being employed as rogue abilities rather than pieces of equipment, since they're one-use types of things that you wouldn't want to have to swap out of your equipment slot every battle.

Caltrops would be kind of pointless, since mobs regenerate full health as soon as they reach the end of their tether. Flails would be interesting. Bolas would be a nice addition, but if all classes were able to use them, and they did bind like root, it'd make the spell redundant. Plus, casting root, and using bolas would effectively lock the target, making it even easier to kill. Especially if used in a party, with multiple people throwing/casting.

Clear is a real color, and I want it as an option for my character.

Air Bears are alive and well, and this picture proves it. If you don't believe in them, I hope they eat you alive.

@Whitski: I was actually thinking as an item that you could toss (simular to the snowballs durring the winter holiday events)

@Moros: True, so possibly just a trip up/stumble effect to give a little more time for spell casting or escape. Plus an animation to show them fall on their face would be funny.
